RSK forms RSK Carbon Management to help clients go green5 JulyRSK Group has established a dedicated carbon management company, making it one of the few UK environmental consultancies to offer its clients comprehensive carbon emissions advice. The launch of RSK Carbon Management Ltd is timed to coincide with the Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral project (for which RSK is the main sponsor) starring in a 10-minute documentary to be broadcast at this weekend’s Live Earth mega-concert. Through service categories such as carbon management support, carbon footprint and air quality assessments, carbon compliance and investment advice and low carbon development solutions, RSK’s expert staff and strategic partners can assist with anything from legislative advice to sustainable site remediation and renewable energy systems installation.
Garry Charnock, managing director of RSK Carbon Management Ltd and mastermind of Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral, said:
Dr Alan Ryder, RSK Group chairman said: RSK is routinely vaunted as one of the most innovative and environmentally progressive companies in Europe, having helped most of the major players in the energy, property, water, manufacturing, government and transport sectors to carry out their projects and developments in an environmentally sustainable manner. Recent projects of note include helping George Wimpey UK Ltd become the UK’s first volume house builder to both achieve and maintain its ISO 14001 certification and providing ecological services to the Building Research Establishment (BRE) for a pioneering showcase project to revamp a Victorian stable block into a sustainable building fit for 21st-century use. In 2006, RSK Group became one of the first environmental consultancies of its kind to form a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility team, which offers clients advice on social and environmental performance ethics and legislative developments. In addition to the aforementioned Ashton Hayes project (which has encouraged communities around the world to follow suit and aim for carbon neutrality), RSK has financially supported initiatives such as the Crichton Carbon Centre, Scotland’s first dedicated sustainable energy and carbon emissions research centre, and Chester City Council’s adoption of the pioneering CRed scheme, which made Chester the first city in the world to offer all of its citizens personalised guidelines for carbon emission reduction. Furthermore, RSK has sponsored the appointment of Roy Alexander as Professor of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Chester and the Romanian village of Şinca Nouă’s bid to become an eco-village.
