| RSK Group forms renewable energy company |
12 January
Based at RSK Group’s Helsby headquarters, the company is headed up by Rav Chatha, a former sales director at leading energy consultants Heating Efficiency Services, and Alan Donnelly, a heating and ventilation expert with over 20 years' experience.
Mr. Chatha said: RSK Group now finds itself as a potential renewable energy solutions leader just as the ambitious Climate Change and Energy Bills, which both received Royal Assent last November, are poised to catalyse the emergent market. The Energy Bill, for example, includes legislation for a feed-in tariff to incentivise microgeneration – a strategy that has been very successful in countries like Germany, where the renewable energy industry is worth £20 billion and employs 250,000 people (compared to the UK’s 20,000). A further, highly influential driver for renewable energy generation is the fact that the UK has agreed to participate in the EU Renewable Directive that calls for a EU-wide target of 20% renewable energy by 2020. This would mean the UK would have to increase its current production levels almost tenfold to 15% in order to meet its contributory target.
