Avoiding ecological risks in construction and development

Senior RSK consultant Jen Turner is to speak at a free Constructing Excellence event entitled Ecology and Invasive Weeds – A Risky Business. The seminar is on 27 March at the Centre for Construction Innovation Northwest, Cube Building, 113–115 Portland Street, Manchester M1 6DW.

The event aims to guide developers, contractors and engineers through the requirements of planning authorities and government organisations with regard to biodiversity and invasive weed issues in England.
Jen’s session will run through the pitfalls for developers and contractors, and the costs of non-compliance, and will offer advice on how to eliminate or reduce the risks of legal compliance. She will discuss safeguarding protected species and recent changes to key ecological guidance documents.

Mike Clough, chief executive, Japanese Knotweed Solutions Ltd, will talk on Japanese knotweed including how to identify it and the pertinent legislation. He will describe methods of eradication and monitoring, and include case studies.
