For successful property and infrastructure asset acquisition or divestment, managing risk is vital. To understand the risks associated with physical assets you often need detailed information on their nature and condition that goes beyond visual inspection and dimensional surveys.

- Deleterious materials surveys, including the identification and evaluation of alkali–aggregate reactivity, chlorides, high alumina cement, reinforcement corrosion and sulphates in concrete and calcium silicate bricks and wood-wall slab formwork
- Hazardous materials surveys, including asbestos, fungi and other microorganisms, and lead paint
- Full structural investigations into the detailed design principles and quality of past workmanship, and associated building surveys into features such as cavity wall ties
