Site investigation contracting
When redeveloping a brownfield site, you must ensure that all the appropriate site investigations and assessments are to the required standards.
RSK’s in-house site investigation contractor, Structural Soils, will undertake all aspects of contaminated site studies, including desk studies, intrusive testing, sampling, laboratory testing and reporting, for you. The industry’s main regulators are the Environment Agency and local council’s environmental health departments. Our geoenvironmental specialists will liaise with these bodies and the NHBC regarding their requirements for individual sites.
The site investigation process often begins with a desk study (Phase 1) to establish the site’s full history and the contamination that may be present from its former use.
An intrusive investigation (Phase 2) follows, which consists of trial pits, boreholes, etc. to obtain soil and water samples, which we analyse and risk assess.
Phase 3 work includes site supervision of remediation works and validating such work.
