Ecological impact assessments (EcIA)
An EcIA is a statutory requirement for UK developments such as motorways, power stations or new industrial facilities. Projects in areas such as farming, mineral extraction and infrastructure developments may also require an EcIA, depending on their size, location and potential to cause significant environmental impact.
An EcIA gathers useful information to help shape the early phases of decision making and design, and to facilitate project development from conception to construction.
RSK’s EcIA process involves detailed planning and implementation. Once we have identified the impacts that a particular development may have on ecological habitats and species, we address these issues through a programme of avoidance and protection or ecological mitigation and compensation.
We help our clients by identifying ecological impacts at an early stage, which keeps costs to a minimum and saves project time. Our ecologists are also professional project managers who can supervise all the necessary EcIA work.
