“The morning was a great success, and all of the lads and lasses I’ve spoken with during the day thought it was excellent to be involved,” says Structural Soils’ Nick Gerlach, who organised the event. “Many were unaware of SSAFA as an organisation, and I had quite a few discussions on my rounds about their family and colleagues who have served, some of whom have faced challenges during and after their time served. Everyone felt that it was fitting and very comforting that care and support is available for those who need it.
“The best news is that we managed to raise £262 in the hour or so that we enjoyed together as a team.”
