Health and safety legislation requires that all employees are provided with suitable information, instruction and training to be able to carry out their duties safely.
RSK provides a range of asbestos, legionella and water hygiene training courses that are suitable for all levels. Dates and locations of our scheduled open courses can be found opposite. We also provide private courses for organisations at their premises or at one of our local offices.
All our course tutors have years of consultancy experience in their specialist areas; their knowledge and experience are key to providing effective training. All our courses are designed to be interactive and include question-and-answer sessions, class discussions and practical examples.
All employees who are likely to be exposed to asbestos and those who supervise them must undertake asbestos awareness training. In practice, this comprises most construction, demolition, maintenance and refurbishment personnel. Those who are responsible for managing asbestos risk and those who intentionally work with asbestos-containing materials must carry out further training specific to their roles.
RSK is a UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) approved training provider for the following courses:
- Asbestos awareness
- Asbestos awareness for ground workers
- Asbestos awareness for waste management and civic amenity site operatives and managers
- Non-licensable work with asbestos
- Non-licensable work with asbestos for ground workers
- Non-licensable work with asbestos for waste management and civic amenity site operatives and managers.
We also provide refresher training for all of these courses.
Our bespoke asbestos courses include

- Asbestos management.
Legionella and water hygiene training
RSK is a Legionella Control Association registered training provider.
Legionella awareness training is aimed at those who work on, inspect or test water systems. This includes maintenance contractors, plumbers, facilities management, property managers and health and safety managers. It is also suitable for those who carry out legionella management tasks, such as temperature checks.
Responsible person training is aimed at those who are taking on the role for a site or group of sites. It includes information on legislation and codes of practice, developing a control scheme and safe management of water systems.
Anyone who wears ‘tight-fitting’ respiratory protective equipment, including all disposable, half-face and full-face masks (but not loose-fitting hoods), for their work must have a face-fit test to confirm a suitable make, model and size. Dates and locations of our scheduled face-fitting days can be found opposite, but we can also attend your premises or arrange a morning, afternoon or whole day for your personnel at one of our offices.
