The NVQs were obtained through a combination of Central Alliance’s on-the-job training under the supervision of senior lead drillers, completing evidential paperwork and an assessment by an industry experienced and qualified assessor. The NVQ Level 2 portfolio looks at all aspects of the driller’s job, including providing for and maintaining the security of the work and environment surrounding the drilling area; establishing work area protection and safety; drilling and completing holes to the drilling specification programme; contributing to the specified drilling programme; and general health, safety and welfare.
