The programme, which is at the forefront of waste minimisation in construction, was highly commended at the 2012 Construction Excellence Awards and shortlisted at the Edie Reuse Revolution Awards last May. It builds on work focusing on the reduction of waste to landfill and the simplification of regulatory compliance, which Taylor Wimpey and RSK have championed for more than a decade. This demonstration of commitment makes us a strong contender for the award.
The initiative focuses on the sharing of materials (soils and recycled aggregates) across Taylor Wimpey sites in England, Scotland and Wales. A nationwide GIS enables matches to be made between material surpluses and deficits. It has already been successfully deployed at several locations and will be expanded across all 300-plus Taylor Wimpey sites later this year.
