RSK has provided environmental support to the project since 2013, with RSK environmental consultant Sophia Postoyko seconded to Amey to provide environmental manager support. Sophia also led the project team through the CEEQUAL award process. The project included extensive track redevelopment, signal installation and civil and overhead line equipment work between the Old Oak Common and Royal Oak stations in London, UK.
The team carried out an evidence-based assessment of the project’s sustainability performance against nine environmental areas, including ecology, energy and carbon, archaeology and water resources. As the project assessor, Sophia led the team through the process during the detailed design and construction phase of the project, identifying and informing the team of opportunities for the project to gain points, scoring the project against the assessment criteria and collating the final evidence to submit to CEEQUAL.
The project achieved a score of 80.5%, an outstanding achievement for RSK, Amey and Crossrail. The excellent classification is the highest that can be received.
