Energy efficiency, low-carbon and renewables services

The UK government stated in its Energy White Paper that “Our ambition is for the world’s developed economies to cut emissions of greenhouse gases by 60% by around 2050. To help achieve this, the government has set a target of producing 10% of UK electricity from renewable sources by 2010 as one of the main measures of tackling greenhouse gas emissions, and aspires to double this by 2020.”

About half of the local planning authorities in the UK now have renewable energy policies and over one-quarter have adopted the 10% renewables rule for new developments. These requirements combined with rising fuel costs and carbon reduction programmes driven by international and energy performance legislation present new challenges to incorporate energy efficiency, low-carbon solutions and renewable energy into developments in a cost-effective manner. RSK's services include developing renewable energy strategies, advising on solutions and feasibility studies.
