When a confidential client began expanding its European headquarters in Chester in 1998, it faced the challenge of acquiring and developing a 10-ha site in an environmentally sensitive area on the edge of the city. Aware of the need to protect the area’s ecology and to complete the development on time and on budget, the client called RSK for specialist advice and support in environmental impact and design consultancy over a period of 10 years.
Following its successful work for the client and having gained an intimate understanding of the locale’s environmental constraints, RSK has remained active at Chester Business Park for several other clients. This has included archaeological support during four projects (including the excavation of features associated with a Roman road), ecological support (for newts, bats and barn owls) and landscape design and management.
