RSK has an exceptional management team with extensive knowledge and experience of the engineering and environmental consultancy industries. Since the company’s inception, our senior management team has developed RSK into a strong consultancy with industry-leading capabilities and advanced systems and processes.
The RSK board is made up of 10 executive directors and 3 non-executive directors.
Dr Alan Ryder
Chief Executive Officer
Alan founded RSK in 1989 and has a PhD from the University of Aberdeen.
Since the group’s inception, he has developed and implemented the overall business strategy and overseen the integration of the group.
Alan has extensive experience of the oil, gas and nuclear power industries, having worked and built up strong relationships in these sectors.
Chief Finance Officer
Abigail joined RSK in 2011 and is responsible for all aspects of the finance department, leadership of the business from a financial perspective and the design and implementation of the control environment
Abigail has been a financial controller and a finance director in the technical manufacturing, property, legal and retail consultancy sectors for more than 15 years.
She is an experienced Chartered Accountant with a track record of working with banks and investors to raise finance and manage growth in a leveraged business.
Director of Environment and Planning Division, and Chief Operating Officer
Nigel has 30 years’ experience in waste water and contaminated site remediation. An environmental scientist by training, he specialises in contaminated land, environmental due diligence and industrial waste-water treatment projects.
Nigel has been involved in setting up several new RSK companies as well as being responsible for integrating some of the group’s international operations. Nigel has been with RSK since July 2001.
Director of Geosciences and Engineering Division, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Peter has over 35 years’ experience of carrying out and managing geotechnical and environmental services, and is responsible for the geosciences and engineering division.
He is a recognised expert in the area of remediation and brownfield development, and sits on several government panels that review UK policy and guidance.
Peter’s technical role at RSK focuses on the property sector. He joined RSK in July 2001.
Dr Paul Upton
Strategic Sales Director
Paul has more than 20 years’ consulting and engineering experience with a focus on addressing the environmental needs of multinational industrial clients.
In manufacturing and petrochemicals, he has provided due diligence, site remediation, pollution control engineering and environmental management systems services for clients including BP, Chevron, DuPont, Shell, Total and GE. Paul has been with RSK since December 2002.
Ian is an experienced company director and operations manager, and has had several leadership roles during his career with RSK.
Operationally, Ian is currently responsible for the asbestos business as well as for commercial matters.
His principal technical expertise is the upstream oil and gas sector and he has strong relationships with BP and National Grid. He joined RSK in July 1992.
Group Sales Director
Sue has worked extensively in the oil, gas and renewables industry offering strategic environmental advice to clients and engineers during the design stage of major projects.
Sue is a member of the Landscape Institute and Energy Institute, and an associate member of the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association. She joined RSK in November 1989 and was one of the founders of the company.
Communications and Marketing Director
Garry is a Chartered Engineer and an environmentalist who has worked as a hydrologist and international journalist before founding RSK’s communication services team.
He is the instigator of the Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral project, for which he won the 2011 Climate Week Most Inspirational Leader award and the BITC Established Leader In Sustainability award.
Garry joined RSK in August 2007.
Information Technology Director
Mike led the development of the pipeline manager information system and it has increased use throughout the UK and Europe.
He has managed pipeline GIS projects for blue-chip companies worldwide and is responsible for introducing GIS throughout RSK to assist in a wide variety of investigations. Mike has been with RSK since January 1994.
Managing Director Belgium and France
Stefan established the Benelux business section of RSK.
Stefan is a certified remediation expert with over 20 years’ experience, including several LIFE+ projects for the European Commission demonstration new remediation technologies. He joined RSK in January 2002.
