Contaminated land and community engagement in Leftwich

In 2005, a consultant at Alder Hey Hospital noted that two young children from the same housing estate in Leftwich, Cheshire, had died 12 months apart from the same rare subtype (acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia AML M7) of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). RSK’s handling of the subsequent site investigation has been widely seen as an industry benchmark for transparency and community engagement.
