St Mary’s Park in the east of Maidenhead, UK, is a housing scheme on a brownfield site. The 15.64-acre site on Blackamoor Lane, previously known as Badnell’s Pit, is part of a former gravel pit, which was worked until the late 1940s before being used as an unlicensed tip for industrial waste between the 1950s and the 1970s.
RSK provided the monitoring solution that facilitated the safe and controlled remediation of the site, allowing the development of over 400 new homes. Together with a comprehensive stakeholder engagement scheme, also managed by RSK, the strategy removed the site from a 20-year planning deadlock.
