In the late 1990s, the German government passed legislation requiring all the petrol stations in the country to be investigated for hydrocarbon contamination. Where contamination was found, elements of the petrol station structure would have to be rebuilt.
RSK won a three-year contract for the provision of post-remediation monitoring services to Aral, the German arm of BP. RSK’s work on this contract involves groundwater contamination monitoring, rebuilding underground storage systems, and surveying for asbestos and polychlorinated biphenyl contamination.
