Managing community issues and expectations on the East West Rail: Phase 1 – Core works

The Bicester to Oxford Collaboration (also known as East West Rail (EWR) Phase 1) project is upgrading a single-track railway to a 100-mph twin track between Oxford and Bicester, building two new stations and extending the line at Bicester to join the Birmingham to London Marylebone Line. The line will reopen in spring 2016. The project was subject to two public inquiries in 2009 and 2010.

The Carillion–Buckingham Construction joint venture team is responsible for providing strategic stakeholder engagement and dealing with community liaison matters arising during the design, build and hand back of the core works. This aspect of the works is being delivered by the on-site communication team provided by RSK and working closely with the wider joint venture, Network Rail, Chiltern Railways (as operator) and EWR, as well as residents, landowners, local authorities and councillors, and the local media.
