In 2011, Shell in Kazakhstan was asked to produce a technology roadmap for the Kazakhstani government, initially requested by the Kazakhstani President himself, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Shell harnessed the help of the entire oil and gas industry to carry out a study of technology challenges and solutions in the Kazakhstani oil and gas sector. The aim was to use the results to inform technology research and development in Kazakhstan, promote appropriate local business development initiatives, and guide university activities and the development of young people in the country. The project would culminate in the roadmap being presented to the president and the Kazakhstani government.
RSK’s communication services team was enlisted to assist Shell with the design, writing and production of the roadmap report. The project took the team six months to complete.
