Belfast Harbour Authority wished to regenerate land around Corporation Street, Clarendon Dock and the defunct SeaCat terminal. The proposals at the site were for a mixed-use development to be known as City Quays that comprised hotel, residential, retail/café/ restaurant and leisure uses. The 8-ha site lies adjacent to the estuary of the River Lagan and is bounded by Corporation Street to the west, Dock Street and Corry Link to the north and Corporation Square to the south.
As part of the flooding chapter for the environmental impact assessment, RSK carried out a flood risk assessment of the proposed development. This required liaison with drainage design consultants, the Rivers Agency and the client’s architects to ensure the proposed design met the planning and regulatory requirements set out in PPS 15.
