The Geotechnical Services File is Ground Engineering’s annual survey of the UK’s geotechnical and geoenvironmental industry. It aims to list all the companies operating in the UK market and to provide insights into current market conditions and forecasts for the year ahead.
This year, RSK was ranked the seventh geotechnical consultant and the 17th geotechnical company by turnover, climbing one place in each category from last year’s results. RSK also came ninth in the list of top UK geotechnics businesses based on staff numbers.
Furthermore, RSK’s acquisition of Alenco was mentioned in the analysis overview report, ‘Back to business’, written by Ground Engineering editor Claire Smith. Smith describes the increased number of acquisitions and mergers as “a sign of a healthy market”.
She summarises, “Growing confidence is a phrase that has been widely used during the research for this year’s Geotechnical Services File and recession effects are becoming a memory for the ground engineering sector. However, this does not mean that it is plain sailing for the market, as there has been a change in the scale of schemes providing this prosperity, which creates its own issues.”
