Tim commented, “We are all really looking forward to raising the reading attainment levels of students who might be struggling otherwise. It is also a really good opportunity for RSK and Structural Soils to get more involved with the community.”
Eric Downey, of Structural Soils, Bristol, added, “Since April 2015, I have enjoyed seeing the progressive development of the three children who read to me. They have a range of abilities but with every child I have seen their confidence grow with their reading ability.”
Ashton Vale’s head teacher, Viv Champeney, said, “We promote the enjoyment of reading and volunteer reading partners are a key element to our success. The children really enjoy reading and discussing their books with interested adults on a regular basis. Partnership with local business also opens up the opportunities of possible careers and gives children ‘real-life’ learning opportunities."
