RSK has been involved with the Blackamoor Lane remediation project since 1989. It is an extremely complex site comprising a former gravel pit in the Thames floodplain. The pit, which extended down to the upper chalk, was surrounded on three sides by domestic properties. For 20 years it was infilled with a range of hazardous wastes derived from the Slough Trading Estate. This included numerous drums of oils, tars and solvents with the result that the site was heavily contaminated with mobile contaminants.
